Our Story

BC Hoffman, founder of BC’S ICYS, is a chef and bartender whose love for food and hospitality began in the kitchen of his Austrian grandmother. From apprenticing in a sushi restaurant in Maryland to working with acclaimed chefs in Miami and graduating from Johnson & Wales, his career evolved into leading culinary and beverage programs for large-scale events around the world—including the Super Bowl, Tribeca Film Festival, and Formula 1 activations.

After years in a fast-paced, high-pressure industry, everything shifted when BC underwent emergency heart surgery. Around the same time, he and his wife welcomed their first child. While navigating ongoing chronic and acute pericarditis, he was forced to slow down and became deeply intentional about what he was putting into his body—and how he was living.

Craving something nostalgic yet clean, he began making Italian ices at home using real, fresh ingredients. What started as a personal healing process quickly turned into BC’S ICYS—a chef-driven, California-inspired take on a classic East Coast and Mediterranean treat.

Today, BC’S ICYS is known for vibrant, small-batch Italian ices made without artificial ingredients—bringing a fresh, elevated approach to something rooted in pure joy and nostalgia.

At its heart, BC’S ICYS is about more than dessert—it’s about creating something meaningful to pass down, building moments of connection, and leaving behind a legacy rooted in family, care, and joy.

BC’S ICYS — the coolest thing on the street. (And yeah… your mom thinks we’re cool too.)
